These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Pique (the "App"), operated by Pique ("we", "our", "us"). By creating an account or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
You must be at least 17 years old to use Pique. The App is rated 17+ on the App Store because of the Unfiltered intensity option in Roast Mode. You also represent that you are legally able to enter into this agreement in your jurisdiction.
Pique is a social app with four modes: Daily Thread (for couples), Couples Journey (paired quizzes), Roast Mode (group game with humour), and Open Book (group game with voting). You agree to use the App only for personal, non-commercial purposes and only as intended.

Roast Mode is designed as honest, specific, affectionate humour between friends. The App offers three intensity levels (Playful, Sharp, Unfiltered) and provides rule prompts at the start of every game, including:
You are responsible for what you write. Do not use Roast Mode to target, harm, or harass any participant. If you feel content in a room crosses a line, the host can end the session at any time. Screenshots and shares of roast content are your responsibility — obtain consent from participants before sharing outside the room.
Pique applies an automatic content filter to user-typed text in Roast Mode and Open Book. If your message contains terms we do not allow (slurs, sexually explicit terms involving minors, threats of violence, and similar prohibited categories), the app will warn you and prevent you from submitting that message.
If content in a room is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, sexually explicit, harassing, or otherwise violates these Terms, you can report it via Profile → Support, which opens an email to hello@playpique.com. Include the room code, approximate time, and screenshots if available. We may remove access, disable accounts, or take other action where content violates these Terms.
You retain ownership of everything you write in the App — your Daily Thread answers, Roast Mode roasts, Open Book answers, display name, and avatar ("Your Content").
By using the App, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, transmit, and process Your Content solely to operate the App — for example, to deliver your answer to your partner, display a roast to the intended room, or show your avatar to players in a session. This license ends when you delete Your Content or close your account, except for content that has been shared with other users who may have retained their own copy.
We do not claim ownership of Your Content. We do not use Your Content to train machine learning models. We do not sell Your Content.
At launch, Pique does not offer recurring subscriptions. If we introduce subscription features in the future, they will be clearly disclosed at the point of purchase, and these Terms will be updated accordingly.
Our handling of your data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using the App, you agree to the Privacy Policy.
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
Pique is a social app — it is not a mental health service, a marriage counselling service, or a substitute for professional advice. If you or your partner are experiencing relationship distress, please speak to a qualified professional.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pique, its operators, and its suppliers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or £100, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud.
You agree to indemnify and hold Pique harmless from any claim or demand made by a third party arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the App, or your infringement of another person's rights.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the App and posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. If you continue to use the App after the changes take effect, you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, you may delete your account.
